The coronavirus pandemic continues to dominate our daily lives. Although Germany has managed to contain the spread of infection well by global comparison, the consequences of the pandemic are omnipresent. We wear face masks on public transport, while shopping and sometimes even during working hours. Many people have gotten to know various new video conferencing providers working at home, while others have lost their jobs. Therefore, it is important to look into a better future.

Researchers from a wide range of disciplines - especially, but not only, from the life sciences - are working tirelessly to defeat SARS-CoV-2. Here, we have summarized the research projects of the partner institutions of the Translational Alliance in Lower Saxony. They are investigating general questions relating to SARS-CoV-2, improving diagnostic possibilities, searching for active substances and vaccines or dealing with the spread of infection and its consequences for society.
