
The 1st TRAIN Omics Days Lower Saxony 2024, held under the motto “From current projects to future perspectives of omics-technologies in translational health research and clinical application”! 🚀
With over 80 participants—including experts from core facilities, omics users, group leaders, and early-career researchers—this event marked a milestone for the exchange and development of omics technologies in Lower Saxony.

Highlights:
Day 1: Projects, Technologies, and Networking
🌟 Day 1 kicked off with inspiring project pitches, showcasing 20 fascinating projects in genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics—offering an impressive glimpse into the breadth of current omics research.
🌟 In three parallel technology workshops focused on genomics/transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, valuable discussions unfolded on topics like single-cell omics, standardization, and clinical applications.

🌟 A standout moment was the keynote lecture by Dr. Carla Tameling ing from Evotec SE on “PanOmics driven drug discovery”—an inspiring insight into the future of data-driven drug development.
🌟 The evening concluded with the TRAIN Omics Connect Networking Dinner overlooking the Leine River—an ideal setting to forge new connections, deepen ideas, and strengthen networks in a relaxed atmosphere.
Day 2: Shaping the Future
At the World Café, participants explored key topics such as the challenges and opportunities of AI in omics data analysis, the integration of multi-omics data, and the application of long-read sequencing—providing clear inspiration for future projects and infrastructure planning.
Another highlight was the panel discussion featuring Andreas May, representing the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture. Discussions focused on funding strategies, future needs for omics infrastructures, and career opportunities for young researchers.
