We are delighted that the MoReHealth Lower Saxony project has been awarded €3 million in funding by the Volkswagen Foundation and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science as part of the zukunft.niedersachsen funding program. The aim is to better understand age-related susceptibility to infection – particularly herpes zoster infections – by identifying predictive biomarkers, thereby opening up new avenues in prevention, diagnosis, and therapy.
🔬 What makes MoReHealth special? The project focuses on the standardization of multi-omics analyses and innovative AI-supported methods for integrating molecular health data. This creates the basis for transferable, cross-disease applications – an important step toward more efficient, personalized healthcare in Lower Saxony.
🤝 Strong alliance with the RESIST Cluster of Excellence: MoReHealth builds on existing data and structures from the DFG-funded RESIST Cluster of Excellence at the MHH. Close cooperation with RESIST provides access to an established cohort and valuable research resources – a real success factor for the project!
👥 TRAIN Omics as a central building block – together with strong partners: TRAIN Omics contributes its excellent scientific and methodological expertise in the field of multi-omics, thus forming a central building block for the success of the project. Our TRAIN Omics site spokespersons – Prof. Dr. Thomas Illig, Hannover Medical School – Prof. Dr. Bernd Wollnik , University Medical Center Göttingen – Prof. Dr. Karsten Hiller, Technical University of Braunschweig – Prof. Dr. Helena Zacharias, Hannover Medical School and our consultant Dr. Sara Haag make a significant contribution through their close cross-site collaboration.
At the same time, MoReHealth is the result of strong scientific cooperation: Researchers from the Hannover Medical School, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, the University Medical Center Göttingen, and the Technical University of Braunschweig are pooling their expertise to jointly advance personalized medicine in Lower Saxony. 💪
We are proud that TRAIN Omics, in close collaboration with strong partners, is making a significant contribution to shaping this flagship project.
