With the new exchange format Biomedical Transfer Circle, we have teamed up with the Institute for Biomedical Translation (IBT) to create a platform that brings together technology transfer experts and innovation managers from academic institutions. The aim is to promote knowledge exchange and drive forward the synergistic development of translational programs in Lower Saxony.
The kick-off event on June 18, 2025, was a resounding success: More than 20 representatives from regional institutions took part, including the IBT’s founding institutions, Hannover Medical School (MHH), Göttingen University Medical Center (UMG), and the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research (HZI). Several TRAIN partners such as TWINCORE and Fraunhofer ITEM as well as leading universities such as Leibniz University Hannover and TU Braunschweig were also represented. The focus was on developing a new, community-driven program to promote early-stage ideas throughout Lower Saxony, which is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2025 and will provide up to €150,000 per project.
The Biomedical Transfer Circle will take place regularly in the future. Planned topics include IP management, marketing strategies, and the joint development of new programs. In addition, the Circle will serve as a forum for current and future challenges in transfer and ensure that the Lower Saxony community is optimally prepared for the dynamic landscape of academic innovation and marketing.
Our goal is clear: to further increase the efficiency and impact of life science research in Lower Saxony and to strengthen the cooperation between the partner institutions in the long term.
